C 2, 66 GRILLE, WHICH ONE, HELP????

Want to buy a 66 grille for a hopeful top flight car. I have been told :
1. There is a current repo, is it correct or not for judging?
2. GM has a current rerun that is poor quality?
3. GM had a older run that was good quality and passes judging?
4. My original has cracked ears, can it be repaired and recromed?
Any and all help will be apreciated, price is not the most important thing to me. Doing it right the first time has always proved to be a better bargan for me. Thanks, Bill

-----Wont venture into the first three questions but can tell you that the ears are not (to my knowledge) weldable. The grille is inferior pot-metal,and even if you could weld on it I dont think it will have any strength.Sorry!.......Bill S

Bill, I can only respond to #2. It took me 3 grills about 4 months ago to get one that was not damaged or, in my opinion, inferior. The local Chevrolet dealer exchanged each one without any problem. I don't recall the cost but, there was no shipping charge. I am satisfied with the one I ended up with. I am keeping the original for some possible new owner down the road, in case he wants to play with it.
