So since my 72 has the power piston with the central pin sticking down (and Dave's should too) we need to get at the adjustment from the throttle base plate. From the front? Below? And do we remove a plug to access an adjuster? What type of adjustment is then made?

Not trying to sound dumb, but I don't want to do anything wrong. I'm sure Dave doesn't either.

The primary rods and jets, as well as an assortment of secondary rods and hangers, are still GM-available.

Or, if easier, Edelbrock repackages them under their Edelbrock Q-jet replacement parts.

there should be a very small expansion plug in the baseplate face and behind that a adjustment screw. this is how they calibrate these carbs at the factory. not all carbs have this but if you have the little plug you got it.

Mine faces the front of the car so it is horizontal. Just to be double check which way do I go with it?????

If this works, the small (staked in) gold iridite plug in the center is likely what Clem is telling us to remove.

If no picture appears, then village photos is still messed up.

some of the plugs are "staked" and you need do work at removing them and this may not be NCRS acceptable.if you remove the throttle base plate from the main body you will see what the power piston pin hits. you could try taking a piece of .010/.015 thick shim stock and place it in the area over the pin stop to try and see if this will fix your problem. this will raise the power piston and richen the off idle part of the fuel curve

As you can tell by the pic I e-mailed you (same one not showing above) I have a spare base plate in front of me. I see what you mean, and will see if I have a chance to try it out.
