    1963 FI Air Cleaner Finish

From the looks of most pics I have seen the Air Cleaner housing on a 63 FI appears pretty much like a gloss black (or maybe 90%+/-). Is this the same as the Fan Shroud and Radiator Support (and other components)?

Or does it go something like this?

Air Cleaner housing - Gloss Black
    Fan Shroud - Gloss Black
    Fan - Gloss Black
    Rad Support - Semi-gloss

Was the original Air CLeaner finish just some type of gloss black paint or is it more of a powder coat type of finish? I'd like to powder coat it but don't want to over-do it.

    Thanks

I have a couple of air cleaners that have never been refinished. They are gloss black but not as glossy as you would find on the exterior of your car.

I actualy came to the conclusion that the parts for the FI cleaner were not all painted at the same time. Therefore the different pieces appear to have different degrees of black. All are gloss black. I found for one thing the main canister appears to have a touch of blue in the the color. This propably was due to different amounts of moisture in the air when it was painted. The S tube is true black and the adapter at the air meter is black but seems to be a slightly duller finish. I mixed up three batches of paint when I did my car.
I have a saddle interior and found that there are five different shades in the interior. No one makes all of these shades so you have to mix your own and compare the color on a test piece next to an original part.
