I reinstalled the steering column shaft back into the car in the same position I marked when I removed it.The splined end does not fully go into the ragjoint. The bracket with the 3 bolts that secure the column under the dash appears to have been marked where the sliding brackets were positioned during unstallation. Is there some reason I should install in the same position it was originally as opposed to inserting it fully into the rag joint?

I dont know exactly what you mean by fully into the rag joint. It is possible to jam that thing way down in there, but it is only necessary to get it down to where the bolt will go through the relief in the shaft.- Top

Re: '67 STEERING WHEEL SHAFT TO RAGJOINT
Wayne,
The steering box shaft has a definate recess for the bolt to fit over, but the steering wheel shaft has a long flat area and can be secured with the bolt when either partially or fully inserted.- Top

Re: '67 STEERING WHEEL SHAFT TO RAGJOINT
Get the end of the steering shaft into the rag joint so the end of the shaft is past the pinch bolt. If your body is not sitting on the frame in exactly the same fore/aft position as before removal from the frame, then the scribed lines on your column brackets won't mean anything.- Top
