C-4 1986 Steering Wheel dye????

Happy New Year too all.

The previous owner of my 1986 scuffed the steering wheel on my 1986. The leather is not damaged so a re-wrap would be overkill. Does any one have experience with a dye/paint or other product that I could use to color the steering wheel like original?

Hi John, I had great success with using Kiwi Leather Shoe Dye on my 89. Use towels to catch any drips, clean the wheel with a leather cleaner then do several thin coats of the the dye allowing the wheel to dry overnight between coats, then buff with a towel.

"scuffed" leather covers a range of damage from normal roughing of the surface by normal use with bare hands to a suede type appearance casued by abrasion.

Not knowing quite what you are describing, I can only suggest you visit Leather Factory or another leather supplier near you. They can not only provide the "fillers" to dress the surface to original and the dyes to restore the color but also the leatherworking experience to point you in the right direction for the actual damage to your leather.
