    62 Heater Motor

How is the heater blower motor grounded? I can't find any reference to a ground wire in the assembly or maintenance manuals.

My '62 has a wire with ring terminals on both ends. One is fastened to the blower motor flange with one of the sheet metal screws that hold the motor to the fan housing. The other end of the wire is attached with a sheet metal screw to the IP frame directly above the passenger side kick panel. I can not say for certain, if this is the factory method of grounding the motor because I am the third owner and the heater core had been replaced at least once before I had to replace it. This grounding method works, but I too would like to know the actual factory method.

There is a ground wire to the back of the heater control panel in the center console. The console is metal. So is the control cable that is connected to the metal portion of the heater housing. That is where the ground takes place. The only wire from the heater motor/box is the wire from the terminal on the switch. There is NO ground wire to the heater motor.

This sounds logical, because my control cable was not connected, due to the lack of a hot water control valve. Therefore, someone had added the ground wire I described in my previous post. Thanks Mike.

          John ...

Mike has stated it correct, Reproduction motors have two wires (black & orange) in which case one must be grounded either to the center console or control cable.
