Info on Ray Marsh wanted

Did anyone on this list happen to know Ray Marsh, a big drag racer in the '60's and '70's? He bought my father's '59 Corvette, and I'm trying to trace where the car ended up. I've heard rumors that he wrecked it, and I know he died while racing- My father claims he was the first death at Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, MD, but I'm still trying to confirm that. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Also, I know this is a longshot, but I'm trying to find out what the VIN# of the car was- My father can't find any paperwork he had when he owned the car, and DE records only go back 10 years.

I talked with John Marsh here in MI, son of Jim Marsh. He's from a diff. family of Marsh drag racers. His Dad did know Ray, but no relation. Says Ray had no children, died in 1968 and raced out of MD or some other Eastern state (possibly New Hampshire). Died in top fueler that had two prev. wrecks with Ray driving. Story is the trouble started when he painted it green...

John's father is not with us, so he said to talk with Try Don Ewald, a drag historian in Oregon. Says Don is the guy running "wediditforlove" web site below.
