    C2 Windshield Post Weather strip

I'm installing new left and right side windshield post weatherstrip on my 66 roadster and have new weatherstrip pieces from Corvette Rubber. The strip slides into the side stainless steel strips along side the windshield and fastens with screws into the door well area. The Corvette Rubber pieces have two holes drilled for the screws in the flat portion, however, I believe that there should be a hole that is at a right angle to these holes to fasten the strip into the side of the door well with a pin fastener. There is not enough rubber on the Corvette Rubber pieces to drill and install a side fastener. Actually, both sides of my car have two holes drilled into the door well side for right angle holes. My old weatherstrip ws too badly damaged to determine if these holes were used. Can anyone tell me if the strips should have these side holes. If so, I could possibly super glue a piece on onto the new pieces and drill the apropriate hole.

    Regards,

    Dave:

My '65 has the fastener right at the apex (corner), where the seal butts the jamb.....forward outboard corner. The fastener is a metal push in type with a black button head. There was enough material on my seals to catch the fastener, with plenty to spare. There should be a picture in your AIM. Not sure if this third fastener is also used in '66.

Most have two small metal push in fasteners in the corner between the body and the pillar.

I don't have my car here with me now, otherwise I would look at it. Mine has, I seem to remember 2 Phillips head black oxide screws in addition to the push fastener, holding the lower part of the w/s to the jamb. I remember seeing a running change to the fastening method, and that is why Dave should go to the AIM to check, since he has a '66. I assembled mine according to the AIM, in line with my car's build date.
You won't find this strange: the pass. side jamb did not have the third hole for the push fastener, but the other side did. After I stripped the paint, I found the third hole on the pass. side.......it was Bondoed shut.

AIM does not show the third or fourth fastener. I checked the AIM first. It appears that the repro weatherstrip does not include the side holes.
