1957 Color Combo--I must be bored

During late 57 or early 58, I remember standing at my bus stop in Kansas City, Kansas and watching a silver 57 4-spd FI leave my bus stop every morning. That was the first corvette I had ever seen. Watching that covette leave on numerous occassions has been what has driven me to owning many of my own. The thing I vividly remember was the beautiful silver body with the "BLACK" coves and her close ratio purr as she would speed away daily. It really doesn't concern my restoration of my 58, but I noticed that the black book doesn't indicate such a two tone combo?

If you own her, I bet first title owner was a Stroymeir(sp), address on 51st Street KC Ks and probably sold by Feld Chevrolet, Minnesota Ave, KC Ks. Or at least this is the dream that has recurred for over 45 years in my mind.

Bill: silver could have silver cove or white cove. don't think black cove was a factory option but bet it did look sharp. mike

We had a 59 or 60 here in the late 70s/early 80s that was white but with a mother-of-pearl appearing cove. A very pretty car I haven't seen in 20 years.

I know, not factory, but your reminiscing brought that one back.

Patrick, kinda like Mike put it "not from the factory black coves"; however, this black coved corvette was straight from the dealership new. I guess my point would be that I bet there isn't a 57 owner out there that would restore one back to original "black" coves because there never was such a color combo--guess I saw a ghost or I was just a kid in love with corvettes with a bad imaginatin. Mom, I am telling the truth!

Or, the first owner had the dealership shoot the coves black before it hit the streets.

There was a LOT of stuff that happened to new cars in dealerships in the old days. It still does, but not quite to the same degree.
