What is the correct p/n for a radio in a 1967 Corvette,(very early production)? How do you read the date code on the radio? My radio has 7285155 and ID 21FJB-1476. What does this mean?

Re: C2 Radio
Ralph,
The number for the 67 radio, early, middle and late is Model 986281. The other number is the ident number and the 155 number is the part number for the radio bezel.
The Model 986281 started in 1965 and ran thru 1967. The only differences were the colors of the AM/FM selector. All 66-67 were the same.

Re: C2 Radio
In addition to model # mentioned by J.Ray, should be Serial # format 81FSx-yyyy; 21FJB-1476 is from a mid '64 Corvette. Check the date on the DS-501 output transistor on the back, between the fins (eg: 21FJA-7330 had a 346 date [46th week of 1963]). If I was looking for an appropriate radio for an early '67, I'd want one with a DS-501 transistor dated appropriately (real example: 81FSF-4725, transistor 6638; another example: '67 VIN 12168 had 81FSI-6945 (no transistor date avail).- Top
