    C-2 lock removal

I know this must be simple but I can't easily remove the clip that holds the door lock rods to the lock. They must slide of. I can't see it well enough to find the release. If I keep pulling on it I'm sure I'll break it. Any assistance is appreciated.

    Re: C-2 lock removal

My message must not have been clear. I am trying to remove the drivers door door lock. I have everything off the door and the lock assembly is visable from the interior of the door. There are 2 rods which need to be removed. One connects the exterior lock cylinder to the lock and the other connects the interior lock knob to the lock. These rods are attached with a sliding clip. When installed I can't see how the clips are held in place. I would like to remove them so I can clean up and repair the lock.
The car is a 63 convertible.

      Bob,

I just changed the door locks on my 64 coupe a few weeks ago. I do not remember having too much trouble freeing the clips from the rods, so I do not believe this operation is an inherent PITA. As I recall, these clips have an arm/extension that snaps on to the long portion of the rod. You must first unsnap or "lift" the long portion of the clip from the rod. At that point, you should be able to pull the rod free.
