C1 where can I get fan shroud nuts?

On the lower fan shroud (2 piece) there are flash welded nuts attached to the LH piece. I am missing one on an otherwise very good piece. I know it's a long shot but does anyone know where I could get one of these nuts? Maybe the manufacturer of the repro unit has them but I don't know who does that part? I don't really want to use a generic nut because the ones on there have a very distinct look. Thanks.

Have never seen these available in any catalog, and I have lots. You best bet is probable the vendors that have used stuff, Paragon, Grossmueller's, Mary Jo, to name a few. You also might be able to buy a damaged shroud and get the nut that way. Have you checked at an "old" hardware store?

My '56 fan shroud utilizes weld nuts. If yours is the same, they can be purchased from the large tool supply houses but you'll likely have to buy at least 100. I get this kind of hardware through McMaster-Carr.

Terry, I checked with Paragon and they didn't have any. I haven't checked with Mary Jo or Grossmueller's. If I could find a wrecked or damaged piece I could take one off. That's all I need is one.

Bernard, I believe they are called weld nuts. They are a square nut with the corners notched, and with a flat almost washer appearing top. They are welded (I believe it's called flash welded) to the shroud. It appears that the corners were where the electrical current/connection attached the nut to the sheet metal. I could spot weld a replacement back on. I'll try McmMaster-Carr, I'd hate to have to buy 100 but it would probably be cheaper than buying a damaged used part to get one. Thanks for the suggestion.

As I remember, they aren't visible unless you crawl around on the ground once the schroud is installed. Why worry about it. Use any nut that will fit the correct fastener which is visible when you look into the engine compartment.
