    55 washer pump

How do you remove it? There's a large hexagonal nut on the interior side of the firewall. It seems to be rusted in. What will I hurt if I use a large wrench? What will I hurt if I soak it with penetrant? What will I burn down besides the car, garage, and house if I use heat?
How do I get it off?
    Thanks!!!

Mike use WD-40 let it set for a while . Have some one hold the unit under the Vett and yes use a big wrench. Heat will melt the aluminum housing or burn the rubber pump.( you can do this)

      While we're on the subject...

I seem to remember a round rubber pad on this pedal, with tread like a target. Am I remembering something else after all these years? Where can I get one of these pads? Also, was there ever a rubber cap on the dimmer switch? The JG is mute on these quuestions.

I'm not sure what the 55 pedal looks like but Corvette Rubber Products was making a reproduction pedal that is ribbed (vertically) that is appropriate for the 56-57 pump. As I recall it was approx. $20 when I last saw it about 2 yrs ago.

Yes it has a round rubber pad that looks like a target. These pumps were used on early 55 trucks and all early CAR. Dealers selling 55 to 56 parts may have one. I also have a cap on my foot dimmer , a option I don't know but found one and use it in my 55 Corvette. I could send you pic. of both if you wont.

            Never throw anything away...

I found the washer pump pad in the Corvette parts file, hard as a rock. Now I have to find a soft one.
