C2 Big Block Distributor Cap

I know this question has been asked in the past but I could not find it in the archives. What is the correct Delco Distributor cap for a '67 big block? No "R" on this one like earlier caps? And no, It's not an L88

The correct cap is Delco Remy, Patent Pending. No "R".

No "R" was found on any ORIGINAL cap through the 1968 model year. The "R" began to be used beginning with the 1969 model year, coincidentally with the use of resistor spark plugs.

Thanks guys for the info. I was pretty sure about the "R' or "no R" in this case. Have seen caps advertised as D309, D310 aluminum plug posts and others with copper. Basically, what is the difference in the D309 vrs D310? Or put another way, which one do I need for a 67 big block?

I should have given this with my original post. Sorry. You need a D-308. It will have aluminun contacts. The D-309 cap is brown in color and most think it was used on L-88 and like high performance cars, but not on 435 cars. D-310 is the short tower cap used on Fuel Injected cars.

There is no difference. All corvettes (except L88) in 67 use the same cap with the same markings. The 435 owners get off easy on this one.

C2 D309R on e-bay tonight - Over $48

Current price is $48 with 16 hours left. Following is a description from the grandson of the former(?) owner.

THIS CORVETTE DISTRIBUTOR CAP IS NEW AND IN THE ORIGINAL GM BOX NO.#D309R.IT HAS ONE DOOR. THE CONTACTS INSIDE ARE MADE OF COPPER (BRASS) AND THE LETTERS ON TOP ARE....DELCO REMY R PATENT PENDING.
