    C1-2-3 and so on registry

Hi everyone. Being a relatively new member, I am continually fascinated by the wealth of information offered by this fraternity. This question has likely been asked many times, but here goes.

... with the amount of past and current Corvette owners as members of the NCRS, why is there no register, by at least year, serial number, and current status of the membership's past and current Vettes?...

I am sure there is a perfectly logical reason that escapes me. But I do want to hear the logic line. Thanks in advance for any input or discussion on my query. Glenn

Glenn - Feel free to take on the challenge and fill that gap in our never ending quest to know who's out there and what they own... Shouldn't take more than a few minutes a day... Happy New Year, Dennis

Dennis, your challenge really temps me but I would only want to take care of the 58 to 60 info. But, I am sure we would be reinventing someone's existing wheel? I feel the main problem would be sensitive info like names, numbers, locations and the guy who did not want his once stolen car to accidently show up---even if he had nothing to do with it!!!!!! Glenn, for what it is worth, I am an old time multi-vette owner (like most) but a relatively new NCRS guy doing my first restorations (six years at it and just now reassembling a frame). I am finding it to be very fun, expensive, slow and CHALLENGING--most importantly it is satisfying! Nothing that a bottle of wine and few wrenches in the garage won't cure.

        Glenn:

There is indeed no CURRENTLY active '56-'57 Registry that I'm aware of. There have been attempts at registries or similar data-gathering efforts in the past. But this information, so laboriously gathered, is not generally available.
The Mike Hunt survey of 10-20 tyears ago (before my time) surveyed the owners of '56-'57 Vettes in detail. Excerpts of that voluminous database were published in a series in VetVus magazine years ago. I'm not sure how mucdh interest there is in repeating that.

I considered starting an Internet-based '56-'57 Registry but it appeared to take alot of time at least initially, which I didn't have.

There are a number of registries out there. There are web sites that have lists of them.

List of registries on my club's website

I'm all for NOT "re-inventing the wheel" assuming some person or organization is doing a diligent job on the niche year, generation, or specialty model.

I'm the webmaster for my club and I "attempt" to keep links updated as best as possible. It's not an easy job. I can't imagine being responsible for one of these registries. Having the correct software will minimize maintenance.

After getting to my club's homepage, on the right hand side of the page, pick "Our Favorite Links" and scroll down to "Registry Pages".

There is also a 53-55 Registry...

Which is not listed, since they have only an e-address as far as I know. For info contact John Hutchins, kjhh41@hotmail.com
