Where can I find the vin # stamped on the frame of a 71'?

On driver's side frame rail. Under where sill plate would be if body were on frame and on arch that goes up and over half shaft. both stamps are on the top of the frame rail and are, at best, difficult to see with the body on the frame. The stamps can be anywhere in that range + or - a foot or so.
There is a good book about chassis details that is sold by the NCRS membership office in Cincinatti. You can see some photos of what you are looking for. It may help.
