    Body Lift

    Hi!
Has anybody used an A-symmetrical two post hydraulic lift to lift the body from a solid axel (1961)? If the answer is yes, where are the lifting points and did you need or use any other equipment or devices in the body lift! I used the eight men and a party lifting method on the last frame-off, but have secured a lift and would like to try it this time. We can still have the party if you would like to come!

    Thanks for any help!

I'm planning to do this on a 54. Looks like something on the floor pan to spread the load should do it. I'm afraid to use just the edge of the rocker.

I used an "I" shaped body lift kit I bough years ago from Restoration Revolution on my '67. It bolts where the door catches and female hood latches go. It doesn't touch the paint anywhere and works great. The main beam has two other, adjustable, 90 degrees to it. I used a chain hoist from a beam in my garage to pull it up. Works great, you can raise and lower it yourself an inch at a time. Don't know if it works on all years, let me know if you'd like me to email you a picture.

        Ray,
I used two "Genie" portable fork lifts for my '56. My lifting points were 4x4's inside the rocker panels supporting the floor between the outside body mounts. I was able to do the job alone and had complete control of the body. When it was lifted above the engine I rolled the chassis out from under the body and lowered the body on to a dolly. It worked for me.
