    C3: 1969 L68 cam & engine rebuild

I'm looking at a '69 L68 coupe to purchase. The current owner states that he bought the car with a rebuilt engine that had an L71, 435hp cam installed. He said the car ran well as it is set up (about 8k on the engine), but I'm not sure of the ramifications of running a solid lifter cam with hydralic lifters (assuming he's running hydralic lifters).

Since cams are designed for specific applictations and configurations, is this a problem waiting to happen?

    Dan------

Hydraulic lifters cannot be used with a mechanical lifter cam. If the engine has been running well for 8,000 miles anfd does, in fact, have the L-71 cam, then I'd say that the engine has mechanical lifters installed. An L-71 cam and mechanical lifters could be installed in an engine originally built as an L-68.
