Anyone have an idea how much of a deduction I'd take if I had my 67 judged with the newer muti-clip trim rings, as opposed to the correct 4-clip design? Thanks! Brandon

Re: 67 Rallye Trim Rings
I typically take a 40% originality hit on my '71 here. The 'all-grip' rings are SS vs. chrome, so there's a loss of one originality axis (material - FINISH). Then, they lack the visible wheel rim edge grips (often a pain when wheel is balanced on the outside rim and grip wants to be in same position as wheel weight!), that's a CONFIGURATION issue vs. originals. So, two of the five decision axis for judge's discretion on service replacement items are lost.
Drive a few miles to your meet and make up the score loss. Or, pay the extra money for 'correct/original' trim rings and put up with the 'pain' in a driver situation with the car.... I prefer the point loss and cost/convenience factor of the 'all grip' substitute rings.- Top

Re: 67 Rallye Trim Rings
Brandon, I have done a little research on the matter of finding orig trim rings. They can be found and restored. I paid 5 a piece for trim rings needing restoration, and found a plater who also specailizes in polishing who is charging me 35 a piece to work out the dings. This compares to 110 a piece for rings advertised in the driveline. (already restored) and to 900-1200 a set for nos rings when they can be found. If you want to call me at my office after the holiday, I will share with you some other things relating to rings, that you may findi interesting as well. BTW, I happen to be in Fla this week on holiday, Sarastoa if you want to call me after 9pm 941.349.9517 office number is 800.837.0305 Regards, Tony DiGiorgio- Top
