C3 Valve cover gaskets

Does anyone know what kind of valve cover gaskets my 1982 crossfire came with from the factory? GM told me they were cork, NCRS seems to think they were black rubber. Point deductions have been given for cork gaskets in the past on an other 1982's.

I don't think it came with gaskets. Silicone or RTV unless I'm mistaken. I had to repair a leak on my very low miles 82 Collector. No gasket, just goop.

Yes, the 1982 valve cover sealing was "formed-in-place" silicone RTV; no conventional gasket was used. The original sealant was known as GM #1052366. Today, it's known as GM #12378478.

Take the "few" point hit and use something like the "correct 4 hole" gaskets that DR. REBUILD has. That Orange RTV was junk anyways-so why use it??? I've replaced a few "intake" manifolds where GM USED this crap on 10-15yr old cars, Yet I have a few "original" Corvettes(1968,1974)where the intake and valve covers have never been off of the cars. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............
