    Stan:

First I would suggest pickup up the 1980 AIM...it will step you through the procedures for removing the dashboard once you've removed the glove box, ductwork, center instrument cluster and bezel, driver's console, radio, tach & speedo cluster and bezel and dropped the steering wheel.

Second, track down vendors who specialize in C3 parts...I don't know if vendors stock pillars.

      Stan-----

The complete pillar post assemblies are long-since GM discontinued. As far as I know, no one currently reproduces the entire pillar post assembly. CSC Reproductions of Rocky River, OH (440-331-8939) reproduces windshield side frame section of the pillar post, as well as the top and upper corner pieces of the windshield frame. So, if that's all that is rotten, you can purchase this piece and weld it onto the existing lower pillar.

If you need the entire pillar post, then you'll have to seek out a used piece or an NOS piece. Originally GM #3936229, the driver's side pillar was last available as GM part number 14033459, but this piece was discontinued in November, 1992. They are difficult to locate. I'd try Pacific Corvette of Puyallup, WA, Contemporary Corvette of Bristol, PA, or America's Finest Corvettes of Ramona, CA for a used piece.
