    61 HEATER FAN SPEED

The heater motor speed, both low and high speed, are very slow. With the blower on low or high with engine off and key on I have to listen hard to hear any blower noise.... It's not my hearing going bad yet.. Is this a ground problem to the motor ora motor problem.
-Any help would be greatly appreciated-
    Thanks, in advance Jerry.....

Doubt ground proiblem---they are usually "all or none" but you can run a temporary ground to prove or disprove my guess. I'd first suspect the motor and secondly the switch. good luck, mike

Run a hot lead to the motor from the battery . If the motor runs good and fast, it's the switch.

If you find it is the motor, they are easy to take apart, clean, install new brushes. Had same problem with my 62 and that fixed it.

          Jerry,
Keep in mind that if the flapper door is not open in the engine compartment, that the fan will perform no work in any speed and will not sound like it is hardly running. Once the flapper is open, you will really be able to hear the fan work and be able to really hear the difference between high and low speeds.

            Terry,
I have two motors that I need to look at for rebuild and wanted to take the cage fan off to disassemble them. I had trouble on the first one and didn't want to force it. Is there a trick to taking the fan off to get to the motor?
            thanks, Eric

Eric It's been 3.5 years since I had my motor and fan out.. I'm not sure but I think the fan is held on by an allen screw. If so loosen the screw and use something like WD 40 or PB Blaster and work it loose. Again, I don't remember.
Maybe someone else could lead you... Jerry....
