    Why dont you have a rotor? TI distributors have rotors.

        Rob, assuming that you have the #1 cyl on TDC on the compression stroke, once you have gotten the distributor installed, a quick way to get the timing close enough to start the car is take an extra spark plug properly grounded, connect #1 wire to it, turn the ignition switch to the on position, rotate the distributor until the plug fires. Do this a couple of times to locate the exact point of firing. Lock the distributor down on the firing point. Makes it very easy to start.
