Maybe a little premature but would like to start thinking about the reverse process. The body is off and everything is in the process of being restored by me, or farmed out. My plan is to have the complete rolling chassis ready for the body when the paint is finished (which will be at least several months from now and the longest part of this project).
I plan to have the engine and complete drivetrain in, suspension in, exhaust in, and gas tank. The biggest question though comes to the Fuel Injection unit, distrbutor, and Ignition shielding. To allow additional clearance and not to chance anything banging around, would it be suggested to leave these items off until after the body is back on. I had the top end off the engine when I removed it and it was a tight squeeze then, but I may have a real list instead of an engine hoist when the body goes back on.
Suggestions welcome, as always.
Thanks,
Joe..
ps: I currently did not have plans to test run the engine before putting the body back on. I do have available a run stand but the extra effort would be a pain. Then again, maybe the extra effort will save more pain later (If I can't get it running, leaks, etc.).
