So how high will the Shocks go?

I know that for various reasons, many here are watching this set of original dated but slightly used shocks (see link below) on eBay.

I think it will be interesting to see what price they bring. I think it will be even more interesting to see if they help "make" a "Survivor" or "Bowtie" car. Unfortunately we can't track that.

One thing that is interesting is the size of the code sticker on the subject shocks. It's Huge!

Same size as the shocks I found on

the 65 that Futo's son-in-law now owns. Is this price a function of "'67 disease" or should I be trying to remember where I put those 4 original 1965 shocks and be buying a digital camera???

How many members if any contacted you about the shocks you removed from the 1965, I made a statment about a part once and was contacted by 8 or 9 members.

Kinda blows the "Points-per-Dollar" formula, doesn't it? Then again, the $3,500.00 '69 Camaro sill plates still take the cake How much do you think a dirty old '69 Camaro factory shifter is worth....one went last night for $1,837.00

Points Per Dollar for these Shocks....

I still say they'll end up on some potential Survivor/Bowtie car.

              For a point or two...

I checked my 72 Judging Sheets; it's 8 points originality, 8 condition. Since I'll say you can still buy nearly identical shocks, we'll put the date codes at 2 points under originality.

So, 2 points out of 4500 puts a car at $3,093,007.50
And I didn't even include shipping the shocks.
So which Bowtie L-88 needed shocks? The 12 mile car?

If the value of my 72 is about $22,000 I can only spend about $5 a point before I go upside down.

Re: Points Per Dollar for these Shocks....

They were not dated properly for a 67 by my calculation. I believe they were 237 67 which makes them right for a early July 67 car !!!!! or would it be a 68 car. Who says its difficult to build a Bowtie car. ???

Re: Points Per Dollar for these Shocks....

I noticed that too. Either VERY late 67, or more likely early 68. And to date, I haven't seen any $3 million 68's yet.

It's not tough to build a Bowtie/Survivor car, just expensive. I believe that you and I find it much cheaper to buy them complete.

Re: Same size as the shocks I found on

You and I are in a similar situation, except I know where my original, dated shocks for my 72 are and I own a digital camera. They are NOT for sale but I think I will go down to the garage and pull them out of my storage container to look at. Maybe I will stick them under the mattress like my grandparents used to do with valuables.

I know where mine are, too.

                      On the car.

Don't know if folks really paid attention - these shocks were originally talked about several weeks ago, right here on this Forum - this individual originally posted asking what the "application for the shocks were", as if he didn't know! There were many posts about how this individual was on a "fishing expedition".

They appeared on eBay briefly, and then the individual posted back here and said he couldn't believe that folks attacked him for being on a "fishing expedition" and said he pulled the auction because he was contacted by Chuck Berge and Chuck had requested the individual send the shocks to him for identification and addition to the historical archives - now they were back on eBay auction and I don't remember what the final price was

Yes, I followed the seller's items for sale, and pulled the shocks up when they reappeared.
