The steering column on my 63 had some scratches and paint missing in spots and also the turn signal would not always work, the hole thing would spin. It looks like the turnsignal switch itself was very sticky so I picked up a replacement along with a cable.
(Note: The interior is black)
I have a new turnsignal switch, cable, cancelling cam, wedge and screw, and turn signal lever. I'm hoping the parts will fix the turn signal functionality. In terms of finish, it looks like a semi-gloss trim-black type of paint. Is this correct and could someone recommend a brand/finish? Any other suggestions on the turnsignal issue.
Also, the speaker grill is in great shape but does have a couple of small spots that need touch-up. Can this be stripped (media, sanded or chemical) and then also touched-up. Would the same finish (paint) apply to both the steering column and the grill? The grill looks like more of a flat (less gloss) then the column.
Thanks,
Joe..
