    two fours stall

I have a 327 with 2fours in my 61, it starts fine, idols fine, runs fine, and has quick responce. When i run it out it is also fine. Now the problem? when i bring it out of the hole it launches very nice, but when it reaches shifting rpm (5500-6000) it dies. It has a small cam. 300 hp. heads other than that it is pretty much stock. I have heard it all but seem to think it maybe running out of vacum, i hear this was a problem with two fours?, does any one have any experience with this or can guide me in the right direction. Thanks; Lee

Maybe your RPM has outrun either your

"small" camshaft or your fuel pump>

      Lee -

There isn't any manifold vacuum at wide-open throttle. Most likely it's simply running out of fuel; check float levels, and how long has it been since you've changed the fuel filter element in the glass bowl? Fuel pump could also be going south.

I agree with all of the above, but there may be 1 other problem. Back in the day we used to run 2 4bbls on an Olds engine. It did the same thing. Ran great but then had the same problems you have. Did all the ususal stuff to try to fix it without any luck. We changed all fuel lines to 3/8" and solved the problem. Just my experience. GL

were there different fuel pumps for low H.P. engines and Hi H.P. engines?

Lee, I had exactly the same problem on a 2X4 setup I built for my brother's 56, 210 wagon with a transplanted 327. The fuel bowls on the WCFBs are relatively small and they are prone to fuel starvation on hard acceleration if the floats are set even a little low. Try resetting the floats a little on the high side. Good luck Steve

If you have vacuum at WOT, you have some sort of a restriction, I believe. Most street type engines will show a very slight vacuum at WOT.

install a inline fuel pressure gauge

and check to see what the fuel pressure is when it happens
