    Midyear rear strut rods

Anyone know how to duplicate the color of the rear strut rods for judging purposes? Will just semi-gloss black work ? The ncrs tech manual for the 67's describes the color of the rods as "forging black" to gray or blue gray. I'm not sure if the color is supposed to be natural or painted, as this isnt really specified anywhere. Thanks again for the help!

Brandon, it's really a "Natural as forged" finish, which is made up of oxides that form on the outside of the part as it cools. It is neither uniform in color or coverage. the best color description I coud give you is "gun Blue-black" I don't know or any way of reproducing this coloration with complete accuracy.
