I have a 1965 with power brakes. The power brake boost looks terrible and I would like to have it re-plated. I would like to take the boost off myself. Keep in mind I"m not a great mechanic. My questions are is it a project I should tackle and whats involved. It does not look to be to difficult to get off but will it come off without draining or loosing brake fluid at the master cylinder. Thank

Not a big deal for you - remove the two nuts holding the master cylinder to the booster and pull the master cylinder forward, clear of the studs. Two bolts at the top where the "legs" attach to the cowl, two nuts from the inside on the booster studs, and remove the spring clip and clevis pin from the brake pedal, and the booster will come right off. No brake fluid issues to deal with. There are several guys who advertise in the "Driveline" who specialize in rebuilding/re-plating brake boosters.- Top
