C2 RH fresh air vent differences A-C/nonA-C

The only differences that are apparent in the 1966 AIM are the addition of two small brackets to a fresh air vent assembly that is not identified in the drawing.

Is that correct - that is - is the only difference between the standard RH fresh air vent and the A-C fresh air control vent the addition of the two brackets?

If so, does anyone know the base vent assembly part number, and possibly a source? I have the small brackets from a damaged A-C vent assembly.

The black plastic grill on the rh side of a c-60 is about half the size of a non c-60. Source of the non- c-60 RH vent would be a midyear some one is parting out. run add in driveline, hemmings or wait till Kissemee regionsal or Corvettes at Carlisle. good luck, mike

Re: C2 RH fresh air vent part numbers

I can get a RH nonA-C fresh air vent locally. Before I ask the shop to rip it out of the car, I was trying to find out if the part number of the nonA-C RH vent is the same as the part number of the base A-C RH vent assembly that the AIM shows how to modify, but does not identify. I have a 1973 parts manual, but I can't locate it there either. The section referred to in the parts book does not exist.

Re: C2 RH fresh air vent part numbers

Dave: if your car is a non-c-60 and a local shop has a non-c-60 rh vent, then it'll work in your midyear. . If you need specifics on how to modify a non-c-60 rh vent to function as a c-60 rh vent, come spring i'll be pulling a c-60 unit and can give specifics(way too cold here to be fooling around the barn this time of year. mike

Re: C2 RH fresh air vent part numbers

For '67, the base Grilles were 3797317-8 (LH/RH). The C-60 option changed the RH grille to 3826921. As previously noted, it's like half a grille compared to the base part. If I'm not mistaken, this portion of C-60 should be the same for '66. I have a '67 C-60 grille here somewhere - email me if you need pics/info & I can dig it out.

C2 RH fresh air vent part numbers, NOT the grille

The grilles are actually in reproduction now.

I got a nonA-C vent assembly from a local vendor, and it was plastic box, oval shaped, about 4 inches thick.

After calling 32 Corvette junk yards, I have a metal (for A-C) one coming from CO - by description - a trapezoidal all metal box about 9-10 inches by 4 inches by 5 inches with an oval metal door that controls fresh air or recirculate for the A-C.

I would still like a part number to stick on the assemblies. If what I just bought isn't the thing I need, the best way to describe the assembly is by part number.

Not too bad. I had to call 50 junk yards to get a blower housing assembly.

              is this the part?

...sounds like it from your description. This is the part that sits inside the RH plenum outboard of the grille I mentioned and behind the intake of the blower/evap assembly. By my AIM it looks like this is a 3820949, although the number is hard to read on my copy...

Yes it is. Thank you. What year AIM?

What year AIM are you looking in? I didn't find the number in my 66 AIM - just the drawing.

                  I don't have the '66 A.I.M., but it's shown in both the '65 and '67 A.I.M.'s in C60, Sheet D2 - P/N 3820343 Adapter Asm.

Go with the number John posted...

I was referring to the '67 AIM. Given the poor quality of my copy, I can easily see how it may be '343. Best regards, -Karl
