I have what I believe are 3 steel wheels off of a 66 cpe I used to own. They are stored in a very difficult place. There are tires still on them, fr70X15. What numbers or identification should I be looking for to make sure they are the real deal. Thanks in advance for your help. GL

Re: 65 66 steel wheels
GL -- as Brian says, hard to tell with the rubber on, but real '65/'66 steel rims should have no "nubs" for dog-dish center caps, and there should be letters "GM" stamped on one leg of the spider (between bolt holes), yet NO stampings around the valve stem. I would also look for evidence of the scratches on the outer rim, left by the teeth of the full wheel covers. Finally, the offset dimensions (say from the inner mounting / hub face) can add to your certainty -- obtain from Colvin's book or can email.- Top

Re: 65 66 steel wheels
Thanks Wayne: I did take the tires off and found the 15X51/2 JK, the Kelsey symbol, the words Kelsey and 66 in a circle. Gm is stamped on 2 of them, there are scratches where the hub caps were. I did have the caps, but lost them in a fire. Don't ask! The other wheel is a correct replacement wheel with the paper tag still on the inside. No nubs for dog dish hubcaps, and no stampings of numbers or letters either side of the valve stem hole on the 2 original but several numbers and letters on either side of the hole on the replacement wheel, but no GM on the spider. Looks like I do have 2 original wheels and 1 replacement wheel. Thanks again GL- Top
