    C6 Rental

I am looking to rent a C6 in the San Fransico area and drive to Carmel for a wedding in June. Does anyone have any info on where I can rent a Corvette? Thanks Bob

Bob, type various combinations of the right words into your browser window and do a search. Those places exist (exotic rentals), in fact there were a couple in the SF area as I recall.

Be prepared for sticker shock...renting a Vette is not like renting a Hertz. Rentals are going to be several hundred a day (closer to $500 than $200)...Was it Vanderbilt that said about yachts, "if you need to ask how much, you can't afford it".

So, Clem, have you heard anything about a 600-700 hp Corvette in, like, 2006? Maybe with a weird name like...(Nah, I can't say it. )...(Aw, well, what the heck, here goes. )...BLUE DEVIL?

One of the major chains (National?) used to rent them. When I wanted one for my wedding in 1990, I looked around the country. I found a few on the west coast...but I was married in CT.

I rented a '56 Buick conv. from Budget in San Francisco in 1988 - does that count?

i was talking to the corvette brand QC manager last night and he was tight lipped about anything but what is on the official GM website. he would not even admit to the 3 valve head. i did find out that the C-6 windows do not seal against the outside of the wetherstripping but go up into a channel like regular car windows. when you open the door the window drops a couple of MM to clear the channel. this way the wind noise at high speed because the windows are pushed outward by the interior pressure will not happen. he also said the "red" C-6 at the dtroit auto show is not the true "new" red color. he said go to the ferrari display for the true red color.

Clem, thanks for the clarification on the red color at the Detroit International Auto Show. I couldn't believe they would make that the new color. It was definitely not typical for Corvette!

                  Re: C6 Rental

GM's official line is that C6 production will begin in the June/July time frame with the first retail deliveries in late summer or early fall.

Given this, you chances of renting a C6 in June are nil, but I'm sure you could rent a C5.

                    Re: C6 Rental

The C6 "smart window" channel seal design was "borrowed" from the 2003 Viper design, which we "borrowed" from the mid-90's BMW 6-Series coupes. Only way we could solve the "side window blowout" problem at 190mph
