    Air cleaner lid replating

Can anyone give a recommend for a place in or near Virginia that will rechrome the lid off my '64(327/300) air cleaner? Many thanks for the info.

Randy: Paragon offers replating services for air cleaner lids including the silk screening on the underside. I have no personal experience regarding this, I am just passing on one possible source to you. I have personal experience with other products from Paragon and always been satisfied. Perhaps someone can reply who has had replating done by them. Len

I never seen a repro air cleaner with the silk screen , But my 67 is raised numbering you can feel . Do the repro's have this feel.

Roy: I was not talking about a repo air cleaner lid. Randy asked about a source for rechroming his air cleaner lid. I told him that Paragon rechromes them and restores the silk screened AC air filter information on the underside of the lid.

I mean do the judges check for raised lettering on the bottom side? a repro won't have that ,will it?

I just looked at my original and repro. The only difference is the original is pitted ( I was told it would cost a couple hundred to replate ). The repro has the raised letters.

Randy, If you are going to have the car judged, stick with your original. Most of the reproductions do not have the same outside edge as the originals. After recroming silkscreen in red rather than use a decal. In addition to Paragon there is a fellow at most of the big swap meets who also refinishes them maybe someone here will know his name and how to contact him.
