    C-1 Windshield

To start, I have a 1958. I have recently rechromed and polished the respective parts that make up the windshield frame. My question is what purpose do the four screws on the top stainless molding serve? I know the screws on the top of the posts hold the bar under the stainless, but I can't understand the purpose of the four screws.
They don't seem to add integrity to the frame. Maybe I just can't visualize it.
Your help in answering this question is greatly appreciated.

Just adding more sub-port to the S/S to the retainer.

Roy, thanks for the quick response. With the difficulty getting the molding removed and back on, I didn't think it needed anything to hold it in place least four screws. Nice '55 you own. David

The 4 screws connect the upper windshield channel and the molding.

Thanks, Ed. As stated above in the thread, four screws to hold a stainless molding that is at most difficult to remove and replace. I was thinking there must be more to it than that. Again, thanks! David

            David...

I made up a "same" thread longer screw and pointed the end, using a pick to align the first hole, I used the pointed long screw to thread the first hole, this made it easy to screw the second hole, then removing the pointed screw everything was set. This worked great on the lower plate after the welding the end frames together to prevent the broken tab problem.

Dennis, thanks for the info. How did you get the top stainless in place? Rubber hammer? I hate to force things and in this case dent the stainless. David

Actually, it's a bit more than just holding the molding on. In tying the molding and the upper channel together, there is a good bit of rigidity added.
