I read two posts of methods for making the connection at the firewall. First is clean terminals then apply dielectric grease and make the connection. The second was clean the terminals with mini wire brush and contact cleaner then apply WD40 and make the connection. I was going to use the grease until I read the second post (by Duke?)Any consensus? It's the original 67 harness in good shape. Terminals look good but discolored.

John...
Take it from an old connector man...do not use WD40 on terminals or in plastic connectors. Greatest dust collected in the world and adds nothing over time. Method #1 is good. Most old Vette's have unplated terminals which remain in fairly good condition at the contact joints. Clean discoloration is no problem, as the brass will not remain bright over time.If you are worried about moisture getting into a non-environmental connector, use Lithum white grease, which has been used for years by companies like Cummins & Navstar. Be sure to examine the crimps if you suspect any problems.- Top
