    c2 body mount access cover

What is the correct finish for the 1967 rear body mount access cover plates and the screws that secure them? Was this cover installed after the blackout process? Thanks , Tom

The access covers were not installed until the body was on the frame and the bolts located behind the covers were installed and tightened. The body went thru "blackout" in the paint shop before it met the frame soooooo the covers were not part of the black out process but were painted black at fabrication.

      Tom -

The JG implies that varying amounts of undercoat and blackout paint has been found on the body bolt cover plate on original cars, but I disagree. The wheel well blackout and undercoat operations on the body were done prior to body drop (as can be seen in the photos on page 318 of Noland's book and in many other archival photographs I have), and the cover plate wasn't installed until after body drop. The cover plate was dip-primed black, and was attached with black phosphate screws.

Thanks guys for the responses. Does dip primed black mean flat black?

The originals on my 72 were semi gloss black; like the rest of the brackets and stuff under the car.
