In my clouded past, I have used "alignment" shims to bolster tired sagging trunk lid springs. Easy to install and worked pretty good to keep trunk lid fully open. Is there a better fix out there. Replacement springs or Viagra or ??? Thanks, Dennis

Re: C1 Trunk Lid Springs
I haven't seen any replacement springs in my catalogs but this company: http://www.masterspring.com can make custom springs and has no minimum order size, approx. 2 week turnaround. No idea of the cost but shouldn't be too much.- Top

Re: C1 Trunk Lid Springs
Dennis,
I have bought several new repro springs from several different vendors, and they all lacked the strength to raise the lid completely. When I shimmed up the springs to pass judging, They would work well for a few days but would then lose strength and allow the lid to sag. If you have an original set of springs, you can shim them up as you indicated and they will usually not sag out like the poor quality repro springs. I have used fender washers for shimming and in the extreme, I have used cut-down rubber shock bushings.

Re: C1 Trunk Lid Springs
Mine are still originals, but are frozen/seized. What is the best way to get them working again, if at all possible?
Thanks,
Jim
