I am restoring my 67 400 HP air car. The front coil springs, which I believe to be original to the car, have a yellow tag with the number 33l3l9 on each spring. The number does not correspond to any of the numbers listed in the NCRS Technical Manual for this car. Does any one know what car this spring number goes to? Any information would be appreciated.

Re: 1967 400 A/C car front spring numbers
Paul------
GM #331319 was a SERVICE front coil spring for 1968-71 Corvettes with big block and A/C. It was NEVER catalogued by GM as a replacement spring for 1967 Corvettes with big block and A/C. Apparently, someone used these for that application, though, probably due to the difficulty in obtaining the original spring for your application which was GM #3888251. The GM #3888251 spring was discontinued without supercession in November, 1988. The GM #331319 was discontinued in March, 1994.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 400 A/C car front spring numbers
Joe,
Thanks for the information. The car was not running when I purchased it a couple of years ago but, before the car was disassembled by me for a complete frame off restoration, the ride height appeared normal to me although it was not measured. Assuming these springs are in good condition with respect to their original heigth, do you know if they would be the same height as the correct spring for the car and would it be OK to use them? The length of these springs removed from the car is 16 1/8 in. with the spring standing vertically and measuring to the end of the coil at each end. I know NOS springs are difficult to find and I have heard about mixed results with repo springs. Your thoughts appreciated!- Top
