I have put a new kit in each of the Holley Carbs and replaced the metering plates. The car runs great but the problem I am having is that they leak and puddle on the manifold, both sides when I shut the car down. I can't tighten the float bowl bolts any thighter. Is it the new gaskets? Is there anything better than the rubber that came with the kits. It seems all three carbs drip, is that a normal problem?
Roger this is what I call a shot in the dark with your problem. As I understand it the leakage is when the engine is shut off and with the throttle blades of the carbs closed the gas is leaking through the carb mounting gasket onto the intake manifold or is it leaking externally from the carbs? Does it leak when you have less than a half tank of gas? Is your gas tank vented cap clear to vent?
Roger, today's gas is quite a bit different than "yesterday's"; it will expand more with heat. Try adjusting the float level a little lower to see if what is happening is expansion with heat soak.
