what is it supposed to look like the judging manual says no dot yet every supplier has one with a dot can someone clear this up

i can almost guarantee you that none of the corvetyte dealers will have a ballast resistor configured the manner in which they were built prior to 1960(ie 1955 to at least 1962).If you were to hold the resiistor up to eye level and its long axis perpendicular to your face, just under the wire attaching points, within the porcelain, ther will be NO NOTCH cut on either end of the porcelain under the attahiong areas. also the metal bracket that envelopes the [porcelain will have a tab at its furtherest point from the main body of the resistor. if i have confused ya, i'm sorry. wish i knew how to put pics on this forum. maybe one of the kids will come by and show me. mike -

The presence/absence of the "dot" is a fun subject The drawing shows it, the Service Letter when they changed from 0.3 ohms to 1.6 ohms references it, but saying there isn't "universal agreement" on whether it should really be there or not is an understatement. Take a "Sharpie" pen with you and find out what the judges want to see before they get to your carComment
