    C1 T-10 case tag.

I was checking my trans. numbers and found a small tag that looked like the numbers 11-1B or possibly 11-16 on it? Could anyone help explain this tag? The tag has small rivets on both ends and attached to the rt. side of the casing.
    thanks

Do you mean the tag is riveted to the main case? if so , i've not seen such a tag. Might possibly be a tag a tranny rebuild shop attached?mike

Assuming that this is a cast iron main case,

the numbers are 11 16 and represent the month and date of the casting.

Yep, a small tag about 1 1/2" long x 1/2" wide. looks orig. located under the cast T10-1B on the case. Thought it may be a Nov.# Id. My car is a early Nov. car!

Yes, you are correct. It is cast iron. Thats what i thought it could be. I have another T10-1B, with a T10-7D tail as a spare that didn't have the tag?
I just wanted to understand who, what, where, when.
By the way, did you notice that your answer came back at 11:16 !!!!
          thats wild.
          Thanks

            Norbert------

I think that if you look closer you'll find that it's not an actual tag rivetted to the main case. Although it may appear like such a tag, I think you'll find that it's actually part of the casting with a raised surface that appears like a seperate tag and the impression of rivets on the ends (actually, these are the vestige of the screw heads which held the plate in the mold).

I've never seen any such tag rivetted to a T-10 main case and, even if such a seperate tag had been used, I don't think that rivets would ever have been used as an attachment methodology.

No mystery guys, Loren was responding to Norbert's original 10:21am post, not his later 11:18am post. You can tell by the indentation alignment of the post, it is off the original thread....Craig
