    1967 wheels B ? / tank sticker

I was looking at my 1967 corvette coupe and noticed it has a B stamped by the valve stem on all 5 wheels including the spare, (with the origional NON DOT tire) the vin # is 500 a early car, any thoughts other then reciting the judging guide ?? anything else unique to a 67 with a low vin ? The car is a coupe you can see the tank sheet, it feels very soft any good way to clean it so it can be read ?

John - B stamped rallye wheels are found on many early '67 Corvettes, especially those built in Sept 1966; so I'd be looking for B wheel on an early '67 built in Sept 1966. You'll find that the B wheels are most likely dated 8 66 (Aug 1966), which is appropriate for an early September built car. If you have the Restorer articles (Vols. 28, No. 3, Winter 2002, pp. 30-36; and No. 4, Spring 2003, pp. 28-30 and back cover) by Wendel Hans, the '67 B stamped wheels are discussed. His research found B wheels on '67 Corvettes up to S/N 1596. Also, S/N 511 and 512 are part of his database listed and 511 indicate 1 B wheel and 512 indicated 5. BTW, my car S/N 1476 has 5 B stamped wheels. Good luck on the car. Pete

I blew the years of dust off of my tank sticker using compressed air, gently so you do not blast the fragile paper in two.

I used a fiberoptic scope passed around the filler neck boot and was able to read the tank sticker on my 67 Bowtie convertible without ever removing the tank!
