    C-2 Small Block Flywheel

I am in the process of looking for a replacement flywheel for 327/350 HP for a '65. I had an aluminum flywheel that was on the 4-bolt 350 truck engine that was in the car when I bought it. No problem at all getting of the line-but when I replaced it with a correct '65 327 warmed over slightly w/hyd roller cam, I am just not happy with the car pulling of the line in normal traffic.

Am I correct in diagnosing the problem? Bubba must have thought the aluminum was the way to go! But I think the General would have disagreed.

If so- am looking for a correct flywheel-from what I have found, I should be looking for 3791021- 153 tooth, 12 5/8 diameter and a 10.4 disc. Correct?

Have seen many flywheels on EBay-even a 3791021(that went for more than I wanted to spend). What other castings will work my combination? I'm not worried about originality- just one that will work for normal driving(if there is such a thing).

    THANKS-

    Richard

    Richard-----

I NEVER recommend an aluminum flywheel for street operation. You can still buy the correct flywheel for your application from GM under GM #366860. It's expensive at a current GM list of $306.68, but you should be able to buy it from a competitive GM dealer for much less than that. Also, you may be able to get an equivalent aftermarket flywheel from an auto parts store for much less. Use this GM number for cross-reference to make sure you get the right one. For me, though, I'd go with the GM unit.
