    1970 Door Locks

Just reinstalled my doors and I can't get the door locks to work. It does not feel like they are making the full stroke from locked to unlocked. The door panel trim is off, the key cylinder is off. I shut the door, manually moved the rod that controls it and now I can't get the door open. Both doors are the same. What do I need to adjust. I tried the rod length adjustment and that is not the problem. Any ideas? Thanks

The first thing that you need to do is to adjust the rod from the handle to the mechanism. It has to be adjusted just right so it does not interfere with the lock function. Adjust it so that it will trigger the lock to open the door, but does not push down much on the lever when at rest. When you get that adjusted, your locks will operate correctly.
