    '67 BIG BLOCK STARTER INSTALLATION

I found a shop to replace the broken nose on my original '67 big block starter. Other than age, I don't know any reason why it broke off. It was installed with the correct, knurled shank bolts, the brace to the block was attached and the bolts were tightened securely. I had turned the engine with it quite a bit testing for leaks after installing the fuel lines (tri-power) with no problems. It was only when the car was actually started for the second time that the damage occurred. The installation seems pretty straight forward, is there anything involved in the installation that might prevent this from happening again?

A worn bendix or starter solenoid could cause the starter gear to bind or stick causing your problem.
