trim tag on my 66 roadster

How do I tell if the trim tag on my 66 roadster is original?.I've been told that there is a defect in the original that is not in a "reproduction".

i doubt anyone can explain the subtle difference in an original and the various "generations" of repro trim tags by trying to describe those difference via this forum. If you really want an expert opinion, i'm afraid you'll have to take it to a region judgingm event( although the chief judge and some of the team leaders have attended chapter judging functions in the past. NCRS will soon have available a "book" that'll try to describe the differences. good luck, mike

When my car was judged they looked at the tag with a light and magnifier, then gave it thumbs up. I was then shown a book where it showed every letter has a flaw and is only on original tags. Very interesting.

Is this book available to the average "joe"(barnes and noble perhaps??)Can anyone give me a "forinstance"on the defect in say one or more letters or #s?.Maybe the rivet type that should have been used,allthough anyone who researched a "new"tag would have researched the rivets too ,Huh??.
