    Carburetor tag stamping

I need info..I need to buy a Carburetor Tag for my 62 vette.Corvette Central sells them but they say you have to get them stamped yourself. The stamping is from the bottom up, protruding upward.Does anyone know who does this kind of stamping?Do you have a name and number of the business that does it and can tell me?

    Thanks.............John

As popular or unpopular as Chicago Corvette may be, they do have a supply of original tags. Dirty and sometimes bent. They are at 708-458-2500 or 800-872-2446. Ask for Al.

        Have it somewhere. Will look.

I ran across a name of an outfit that does it. I'll lookthru my stuff and let you know if I can find it. In the meantime, if someone else knows...

            Re: Carburetor tag stamping

I have undated tags on my 1956 WCFBs and would like to get them stamped also. I can purchase the single stamp characters for embossing (stamping from backside) relatively cheap, and I only need one letter and one digit of one size and a digit of another size. Problem is, I don't know what the sizes required are. The letter and digit for the date code are one size, and, I believe, there is a smaller digit stamped below that. I'm not sure what the smaller digit represents, shift maybe? Can anyone tell me what size stamps I need and what that lower digit represents? Thanks. By the way, if you can use an A (January) in the date code, you can use a regular stamp for that character since A is symetrical.

              Once you have...

the letters and numbers laid down, what are you going to do about the 'inspectors punch' that's not described in the literature? I gotta believe that you'll take a deduction for lack of authenticity on this item (Carter QA/QC punch) and I only know of one repro Carter carb tag supplier with the full range of technology to duplicate (Bob Kuntz).

Jack is right on regarding inspectors punchs. over the years i've picked up about 6 or 8 inspector punching tools and if anyone out there wants their repo tag punched, send it to me and i'll do it for ZIP and a beer at the next meet we are at. send tag and SSAE so i can return it to you. mike

Mike, Thanks for the offer. I've got to find out what size the stamps are first if I'm to go that route. Jack's suggestion regarding Bob Kunz isn't bad either since his business is about ten miles from my house.
