any recommendations when to put the motor in the car is it easier to assemble the manifold and carbs after the engine is in or before whats the best point during assembly to drop the motor in
thanx
bob
i assemble everything on the long block except the fuel pump, starter and oil filter canister before placing engine in chassis. especially important to install the plug wires and their boomerangs as installing them after engine installed is a real pain in the butt. mike
Bob, carbs are delicate little things. Catch a chain or a sling on the ginger bread and it gets painfull. Agreeded it's easier to put the dist. and shields on first but they get pretty close to the firewall not to bump. I leave the carbs and dist. off. The exh. manifold is optional depending on your lifting device. I leave them off so I don't have to deal with the manifold studs clearing the pipes. Don't forget to do the engine alignment procedure. On when to drop the iron, make sure you have the steering box in and all the compartment detailing/painting finished.
