    Some more trivia C1's only

Thought I would pass on some more trivia .You may have noticed that some C1's sit to high or low at the rear.
People that build up a C1 when gathering parts may not know the difference of the hangers and that is why some Corvettes don't quite look right from the back or front.
If the owner of a 53-55 use the hangers from a 56-62 the vett will be lower at the rear.
If the owner of a 56-62 use the hangers from a 53-55 the vett will be higher at the rear .
If your vett is siting wrong , take a look to see if the hanger's are correct . My son years ago wrote a Artcial about them and we have seen many Corvette having the wrong hangers.

Roy, I enjoy and appreciate the effort and time you take to make such posts. Finally putting my many years sitting 58 basket case together. Since most items for my car where purchased in boxes and many items wrong to start with, it is posts like yours that help keep me tuned in! They have helped me.

      Roy,
When disassembling my '56 I found one of each type. I've often wondered if it was done on purpose to assist weight tranfer for drag racing. Prior owners first road raced (roll bar installed)and later drag raced the car (scatter sheild welded to frame). Just curious if anybody was aware of mixing the hangers on purpose ?

        Some replacement rear springs will

cause the rear to sit to high. Mine from CC were way to heavy.

Eaton Detroit Spring (313 963-3839) can make you a correct set of springs. Correct in the sense of dimensions and specs, as the grooved original spring stock is no longer available. They can also restore originals, if the condition warrants it. They did mine. Great article in the March issue of Corvette Enthusiast by John Hinckley on Eaton Detroit and the process used to make or restore leaf springs. I think the ones sold by CC are imports from Costa Rica.
