1956 single four vs. two four carbs

Does anyone know of anyway to tell if a 1956 Corvette was originally a single four or a two four carb once the engine and transmission are gone?

I sort of recall reading something about the size of the hole in the accelerator linkage lever (1/4 inch vs. 1/2 inch). Does this tell us anything? How about fuel line size and / or location?

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry Ed, I don't believe there is any way to tell. Now all'56 Corvettes can be clamed 2 X 4's engined. Sort of like the situation with the '57's, weren't they all fuelie's ;-)!

My '60 parts book lists one lever for all '55 (second design) - '56 Corvettes. The fuel line diameter will tell whether it's an early to mid '56 or a late '56 (3/8" line) but that's about all. Regards,
